Why composite does not ship like steel

Three differences completely change how a trailer gets loaded.

The volume

The trailer is full long before it is heavy

A composite part is limited by its dimensions, almost never by its mass. A four-metre panel can weigh less than a pallet of tiles while filling the whole trailer. So the price is built on space and envelope, not on weight.

The support

A strap pulled too tight crushes the core

A sandwich panel takes a distributed load very well and a point load very badly. A strap laid directly on the surface leaves a permanent mark, and gelcoat scratches on first contact. We work with cradles, edge protectors and foam, not with more tension.

The climate

Resins, prepregs and a Quebec winter

Raw materials do not tolerate the same swings as finished parts: some prepregs have to stay cold, and several resins have a shelf life that starts running the day they ship. Tell us the supplier’s requirements before we load.

What we transport

We serve moulding shops, aerospace subcontractors, marine and recreational part makers, and architectural panel suppliers. One limit worth stating: we do not haul dangerous goods in bulk. For resins, hardeners and solvents we take the containers labelled and sealed by your supplier, in the permitted quantities — tell us what is on the pallet before you book.

How we prepare a load

Dimensions and lift points

Length, width, height, and above all: where the part can be supported without deforming. Your engineer knows; we follow.

Cradles and protection

Cradles shaped to the part, foam at the contact points, edge protectors under the straps, film over finished surfaces.

Route and permits

If the part exceeds the permitted envelope, the route is planned in advance: overpasses, width, escort and ministry permits.

Unloading and inspection

Part set down on its supports, protection removed in front of you, condition recorded on receipt.

Frequently asked questions

My part is light. Why does it cost like a full load?

Because the truck cannot carry anything else at the same time. A bulky part reserves the space, the height and often the whole trailer. It is also why grouping several parts into one trip is worth the coordination.

Do you supply the cradles?

If you already have your production cradles, we use them and return them. If not, we build a wooden support fitted to the part. Either way, it gets decided before the day of transport.

The part exceeds the permitted dimensions

Can you store parts between production stages?

Yes. Many shops do not have the floor space to let finished parts rest. Our commercial warehousing keeps them indoors, on their supports, until delivery to the client.

Do you deliver to the regions and to job sites?

Anywhere in Quebec, including Longueuil, Rimouski and Sept-Îles. On a job site, tell us in advance whether there is a crane available or whether unloading is on us.
