What “urgent” actually means here

Urgent is not a rate class, it is a dispatch decision. Normally your shipment waits to be paired with other stops heading to the same sector — that is what keeps the price reasonable. On an urgent run we stop waiting for consolidation: a vehicle leaves for your pickup and goes straight to the delivery address.

Three questions decide whether today is possible, and they are the first ones we will ask: is a vehicle free right now, is the pickup address ready to load, and can the receiving address actually take the delivery. If the answer to any of the three is no, the shipment is not urgent — it is simply late, and moving a truck will not change that.

What we will not promise on the phone: an arrival time to the minute across the island at rush hour, a departure in twenty minutes before we know the weight and the access, or a same-day delivery to a region where nothing is rolling that way today. When it cannot be done, we say so during the call instead of taking the order and calling back at 4 p.m.

If the deadline is not critical, regular commercial transport does the same job for less. Urgency costs money; it is worth paying only when waiting costs more than the truck.

The closer you are, the simpler the answer. Here is honestly what an urgent run looks like by sector.

Same day

Island of Montreal, Laval, Longueuil

This is where urgency works best. A morning call is almost always handled the same day, and an early-afternoon call is still workable if the receiving address is open late in the day.

Time-dependent

North Shore, South Shore, Montérégie

Terrebonne, Repentigny, Sainte-Thérèse, Boucherville, Châteauguay, Valleyfield: same day is realistic, but the hour you call changes everything. After mid-afternoon, a very early delivery the next morning often serves you better.

Montreal–Quebec City and the regions

Quebec City is 258 km by Highway 20 or 40 and roughly three hours of driving, so a same-day round trip is realistic when the call comes in early. Farther out — Saguenay, Côte-Nord, Abitibi, Bas-Saint-Laurent — urgent means the next departure toward that sector, unless you choose a dedicated truck, which we quote on request.

What usually goes out on an urgent run

Almost never a full shipment. Almost always the one piece that is missing and holding up everything else.

What wastes the most time

Access described loosely. A dock, a garage door, a narrow lane, a third floor with no elevator: not the same vehicle and not the same crew. Said on the phone, it costs nothing. Discovered on site, it costs an hour and sometimes a second trip.

The receiving window. Many buildings and shopping centres only receive at fixed hours. An urgent delivery arriving at 3 p.m. at a dock that closes at 2:30 is a wasted trip. Check that hour before calling us — it is often the receiving window, not traffic, that decides whether same day is possible.

The equipment at the other end. If there is no dock and no forklift at the receiving address, say so: we plan the liftgate and the pallet jack. If the pallets are heavy or poorly built, say that too — it changes the vehicle, not just the price. Unloading and placement are handled by our material handling crew.

Winter. Snow clearing in progress, lanes not ploughed, full parking lots: from December to March an urgent run needs more margin, and we would rather give you an honest window than an hour we cannot hold. In spring, thaw-period load restrictions apply on some roads and can change which vehicle we send.

Frequently asked questions

How late can I order for same-day delivery?

There is no fixed cut-off, because the real limit is the closing time of the receiving address, not ours. In Greater Montreal, a morning call is almost always handled the same day. In the afternoon it depends on what is already rolling and how far it has to go. Call us — the answer takes a few minutes.

Does urgent transport cost much more?

More than a consolidated shipment, yes: the vehicle is committed to your run instead of sharing the road with other stops. The gap depends on distance, the type of access at both addresses and the time of day. We give you the amount before departure — no surcharge discovered on the invoice.

Do you deliver on weekends and in the evening?

We are open 7 days, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., so a Saturday or Sunday is a normal working day for us — often the best way to deliver to a store without closing during business hours. After 6 p.m., ask: it can be planned, but it cannot be improvised on the same day.

Is it worth calling for a single pallet?

Yes, and it is the most common case. There is no minimum. One urgent pallet to Laval leaves quickly; one pallet to Sept-Îles waits for a departure toward that sector. We will tell you which of the two applies before you commit. See also our page on pallet delivery in Montreal.

Can you pick up directly from my supplier?

Yes. The pickup can be at your place or at your supplier, with the order number as the reference. We can also receive the goods at our Montreal warehouse and hold them until the date you need them — useful when a shipment arrives before the space or the job site is ready.

What if the load is heavy or oversized?

Give us the weight and dimensions on the phone. An oversized piece often needs a permit and planning, which is incompatible with same-day service: that is handled by our specialized transport, with a realistic timeline rather than a promise.

Should I call or use the form?
